Cast Live NetTV from Your Phone to a TV

Watching on a phone is fine on the go, but a TV is better at home. Here are the three ways to get the picture onto the big screen, and which one to choose.

There are three ways to watch Live NetTV on a television. They differ a lot in picture quality, battery use and how well they cope with a weak Wi-Fi signal, so it is worth picking the right one for your setup.

Three ways to get Live NetTV onto a TV, from best picture to most compatible.

Option 1: Install the TV build (best)

If your TV runs Android TV or Google TV, or you have a Firestick, Fire TV or Android TV box, install Live NetTV directly on it. The TV builds are designed for a remote control and stream straight from the internet to the TV, with nothing in between. That gives the best picture and the fewest dropouts, and your phone is free.

Not sure what your TV runs? Look for a Google TV or Android TV logo in the settings or on the box. Sony, TCL, Hisense (some models), Philips and Sharp sell many Google TV models. Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) televisions cannot install Android apps. For those, use a Fire TV Stick or Google TV Streamer, or options 2 or 3 below.

Option 2: Cast with a casting app

Casting sends the stream address to the TV, and the TV then fetches the video itself. Your phone just acts as a remote. This is far smoother than mirroring and lets you lock your phone or use other apps while you watch.

Live NetTV supports casting through dedicated casting apps. The most widely used are:

  • LocalCast — casts to Chromecast, Google TV, Fire TV, Roku and many smart TVs.
  • Web Video Cast — similar device support, with a simple interface.
  • BubbleUPnP — strong support for DLNA smart TVs and Chromecast.

How to cast

  1. Install one of the casting apps above from the Google Play Store.
  2. Make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. This is the most common reason casting fails.
  3. In Live NetTV, open a channel and choose the casting app as the player.
  4. In the casting app, tap the cast icon and select your TV or Chromecast.
Tip: If your TV does not appear in the list, restart the TV and your router, and check that your router does not have “AP isolation” or a “guest network” setting that stops devices seeing each other.

Option 3: Screen mirroring

Mirroring copies your entire phone screen to the TV. It works with almost any modern TV, but the video is decoded on your phone, re-encoded and sent over Wi-Fi, so the picture is softer, there is a small delay, and it drains the battery quickly. Use it only if the other options are not possible.

  • Chromecast / Google TV: open the Google Home app, select your device and tap Cast my screen. You can also use the Cast tile in the quick settings panel.
  • Samsung phones to Samsung TVs: swipe down twice and tap Smart View.
  • Other Android phones: look for Cast, Screen mirroring or Wireless display in the quick settings.
  • Fire TV: hold the Home button on the remote and choose Mirroring, then connect from your phone.

For the best result, turn your phone to landscape, keep it close to the router and plug it into a charger.

Fixing common casting problems

The video plays on the phone but not the TV

Some streams cannot be cast because of the format they use. Try another link on the same channel, or use option 1 instead.

The stream keeps buffering on the TV

The TV's own Wi-Fi connection may be weaker than your phone's. A Chromecast or Fire TV behind a television often gets a poor signal. Our buffering guide covers how to improve it, including a cheap Ethernet adapter.

Casting disconnects when the phone locks

Your phone's battery saver is closing the casting app in the background. Go to Settings › Apps › [casting app] › Battery and set it to Unrestricted.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cast to a Samsung or LG TV?

Often yes, through LocalCast, Web Video Cast or BubbleUPnP using DLNA, which many Samsung and LG TVs support. Results vary by model. A Fire TV Stick or Google TV Streamer plugged into the TV is more reliable.

Does casting use my phone's mobile data?

No, as long as you are on Wi-Fi. With casting, the TV fetches the stream over your home internet connection.

Is there an iPhone version of Live NetTV?

No. Live NetTV is available for Android, Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV only.
