What happened to LiveNetTV?

LiveNetTV was a free Android app that listed hundreds of live channels from around the world. It was never in the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore, so people installed it as an APK on Fire TV sticks, Android TV boxes and phones. It did not hold licences for the channels it carried.

In February 2026 the channels stopped playing. The app still opened and showed its channel list, but nothing would load. TorrentFreak and TROYPOINT later reported what had happened:

  • Late February 2026: Turkish police raided the two operators in Istanbul after a criminal complaint from members of the Motion Picture Association. The streams were switched off straight after.
  • June 2026: the operators signed a settlement with the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) and published an apology.
  • As part of the settlement: ten of the app's domains, including livenettv.net and livenettv.xyz, were handed to the MPA and now redirect to an anti-piracy page.

The service is not coming back. There is no team left to restore it or release new versions.

Does any Live Net TV APK still work?

No. Every version depended on the operators' servers to supply its channel list and streams, and those servers are gone. That includes the versions people still search for, such as 5.0.1, 5.2, 4.9 and 4.8.6, and the Fire TV build 1.8.3. Installing any of them gives you an app with no working channels.

Anyone claiming to offer the official or a working LiveNetTV is fake. Any site offering a “working”, “new” or “2026” Live Net TV APK is not linked to the original developers. At best the file is an old copy that plays nothing. At worst it is a repackaged app with adware. Apps on Google Play that use the Live Net TV name are from other publishers too; the original was never on Google Play.

Should I uninstall it?

Yes. A dead app only takes up storage, and an app that can no longer be updated is a security risk. It takes under a minute:

  • Fire TV and Firestick: Settings › Applications › Manage Installed Applications › LiveNetTV › Uninstall.
  • Android TV and Google TV: Settings › Apps › LiveNetTV › Uninstall.
  • Android phone or tablet: press and hold the app icon, then choose Uninstall.

If you only allowed “unknown sources” to install LiveNetTV, switch that setting back off as well. Our Fire TV Developer Options guide shows where it is.

Frequently asked questions

Is LiveNetTV down or gone for good?

Gone for good. The streams stopped in February 2026 after a police raid, and in June 2026 the operators settled with ACE and handed over their domains. It will not be fixed or relaunched.

Is there a new Live Net TV version, such as 5.2, that works?

No. No version can play channels, because the servers every version relied on have been shut down. Files labelled as new or working versions are old copies or modified apps from unrelated sites.

What replaced LiveNetTV?

Nothing replaced it officially. The closest legal options are free ad-supported apps such as Pluto TV, Plex, Tubi and Samsung TV Plus, plus your country's broadcaster apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITVX, ARD, ZDF, RaiPlay or france.tv.

Why does LiveNetTV open but show no channels?

The app is installed on your device, but the servers that supplied its channel list and streams are offline. Clearing the cache, reinstalling or using a VPN will not change that.

Is livenettv.mn the official LiveNetTV website?

livenettv.mn was one of the official LiveNetTV websites. This page explains what happened and lists free legal alternatives and setup guides for Fire TV, Android TV and Android.

A site says it has the official or a working LiveNetTV. Is it real?

No. LiveNetTV has shut down, and there is no official LiveNetTV app, update or website offering working channels any more. Any site, app or social media account claiming to be the official LiveNetTV, or offering a working or new version, is fake. Do not install its files or give it any personal or payment details.
