What the numbers mean
| dBm | Rating | For streaming |
|---|---|---|
| -30 to -55 | Excellent | 4K with room to spare |
| -56 to -67 | Good | 4K and Full HD reliably |
| -68 to -72 | Fair | HD, with occasional buffering |
| -73 to -80 | Weak | SD at best, frequent drops |
| below -80 | Unusable | Connection keeps dropping |
dBm is a negative number: -50 is stronger than -70. Percent and bars are converted to an approximate dBm, since every device scales them differently. On Fire TV, find the signal under Settings › Network, then press Play/Pause on your network for details. Our buffering guide covers router placement step by step.
